Hoi Ming is not reopening. So sad a Legacy gone! Best Chinese ever who cared about the place was run down. The town of Islip would never allow them to do anything because they are in residential area. The last sit down Chinese place gone. Thanks for almost 50 years of service to the community! Me and my family will miss you 😘!!

Yes
Best Chinese food ever. I truly couldn't imagine eating from another Chinese place after this.
The best Chinese food hands down! Give it a try u won't be disappointed.
Fantastic Chinese food and great service!
The food is outstanding and the family oriented service is amazing
Travel back in time when you visit this authentic restaurant. The food is really good. The service is hit and miss. In the warmer months the air conditioner is not enough to cool the place down and it can become unbearable in there. The staff is super nice.
Love this place. Excellent service and food. Wait staff so friendly.
Excellent Cantonese food at low prices.
Great Martini's. The House Special drink is great as well.Love the parchment chicken and dim sum. My hubby has been going here since he was in a high chair. Phil, John, Edmund and the boys are always very pleasant
My favorite Chinese restaurant from when I was a kid growing up near here. Now, I only get back a few times a year, but their great staff still treats me like family.
I adore this place very much. It has a great spirit. The cuisine is exeptionaly good. the service is powerful and the stuff is friendly. The price is fair. profoundly recommend.
when will they open again?... I miss this place so much😢
Love eating here! Lunch, Dinner,Late Night Snack. Sit Down or Take Out either way, the Food is OUTSTANDING! The Duck Sauce is AWESOME! Everything on the Menu I have tried many times in 40 plus years. Sat at the Bar, Table for Two, Table for Four, many Parties with Family and Friends. Never disappointed. And still having a great time eating and sharing laughs still till today as of April 2019
Like entering a Time Warp into the past, great experience
Wonderful experience. Service and staff were exceptional! Food was delicious... An absolute recommend!
The food and service are phenomenal. Linens on the table and cloth napkins. Plates, glasses, flatware, tablecloths and napkins are always clean. The decor is so outdated, it's cool. Staff are so friendly they feel like family. Prices are more than reasonable.
Missing our favorite restaurant and Phil, Edmund, John and hope you come back 😢 soon. Great staff, great food and it's like coming home. They know your name and your order. Hope you're all well
Food was good but not outstanding. Got the steak which at $19 was way overpriced for the 5oz they give you. Fried rice and wife's lobster Cantonese was good. Awesome tea. Great authentic atmosphere- place hasn't been updated in decades it seems but it works. Waiter was good. Girls bathroom was a bit moldy I was told. For me not worth the premium over regular takeout.
Always a treat! The staff are super friendly and it's a great local Oakdale Hangout.
Best Chinese food anywhere! My grandparents ate here since they opened in the 1949's, my parents and me. 3 generations of my family enjoying delicious food.
The food is great, the service very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. We ordered the Moo Shu Pork and Shrimp lo mein (I get no veggies but there are usually veggies in there). We ordered both as dinners which came with your choice of egg drop or wonton soup, an egg roll and dessert. They also put crispy noodles with duck sauce and mustard on the table (and keep refilling) along with a pot of hot tea (which is super yummy). Our meal came to $32 and I brought how half my food for dinner the next night, definitely worth the price. The only down side of this place is that it is a bit run down and in need of some updating.
If I could rate the food a 10 I would. Authentic food fresh and delicious
It would have gotten 5 stars if service wasn't so slow. Hopefully that was only because it was Friday night! The egg foo young was delicious!! Egg drop soup, yummy! Egg roll, superb!!
1973 Hoi Ming Opened, Time "Stood-Still" at Hoi Mings'. The Staff, People, who work here are wonderful with old school values. They ensure you enjoy your lunch, dinner or cocktail. Friday's are a bit busy during primetime dinner hours, however it is well worth patience and grace.
I went to this place and Everything was stale or cooked in old grease. When I called they said that wasn't true but it was very obvious. Also I payed 15.00 for vegetable low mein and two eggs rolls...and the fortune cookies were no good as well. Maybe they feel that when you deliver they wont make it fresh because they figure that the customer wont check their order. I even tipped him. It took exactly 5 minutes for my order to be ready which is not a good thing. Also the manager was rascist and as soon as I picked up my food he told me to leave. The establishment looks nice but it no good and the reviews are probably from people who've been going there for yearsand care more about relationships than the actual service.
Authentic Old School Chinese! No Fusion just great food like it used to be. Awesome Service, Low Paparazzi level.Thank You Phil, John, And the crew at Hoi Ming We Gone.
Not bad after all these years. Great mai tai
Lucky for everyone this place is now closed. The chinese food here was greasy and disgusting. Not at all good and a decor that was from 1970.The owners were actually trying to sell this dump.Good luck with that one.
This is the lastAuthentic Cantonese restaurant on Long Island. Been coming here for over 40 years. The staff is a dying breed of hard working caring workers that have spent their entire life serving their clientele. Get here while this nostalgia still exists.
Absolutely delicious with the best staff
The owners are incredible people. I got stuck at the restaurant tonight and they stayed well after closing to make sure I was okay and waited with me until the tow truck and my husband came. Not to mention they have delicious food! Fantastic people and an amazing restaurant. Thank you so much again to the owners!!!
The food is authentic old style Chinese. Very good! The atmosphere and decor hasn't changed over the years and is very basic, but I love the relaxed feeling about it.
What's not to love! For anybody 40 and over, its reminiscent of the Chinese restaurant of your youth. Same people since I was 6 (I'm 48). Food is great and always made with great care. Favorite Chinese food spot in planet earth.
I've been here for years the food is amazing its so good that the second day tastes even better. Phil is best waiter he always makes sure you everything you need. The house special cocktail is a must have with the pu pu platter. My all time favorite dish is the lobster Cantonese if you like lobster you gotta try it. Its amazing spot cozy interior and always welcoming.
Love this place . My family has been going for many years!
Always the best....have many memories here and yes Phil is the most awesome waiter and John, Edwin is great with takeout orders......
Hands down they have the BEST spare ribs!!!!
Always have a wonderful drink when i come to Hoi Mings
The best Chinese restaurant on the East Coast......
I love everything about this place!!!! It’s like being home in Brooklyn and Queens ❤️ Same quality of food and the decor just like a Manhattan Resturant!!! Best food around!!!
Great food. Service excellant family atmosphere
One of the best old school Cantonese style chinese food restaurants.
Not satisfied with the food. I asked for sesame chicken, with a small amount of sauce. After about 10 minutes I was brought out chicken with broccoli literally swimming in a pool of sauce. Perhaps the reason for the messed up order is because the waiter didn’t bother to use his note pad once to write any of the order out.
Classic Chinese food. The food is consistently great, the cocktails are generously made and I’ve known the guys who work here since I was a toddler, and they are the nicest bunch. This place has a cult-like following with a number of us local volunteer firemen and it is well deserved
I was so excited to see what all the rave was about Hoi Ming. It was EVERYTHING and more!! It was cozy, friendly staff, vintage Chinese restaurant style, and a bar! I will definitely be returning sooner than later. I don't even want to order in from my local chinese spot anymore!
Haven't been to this place in a long time, but it wasn't like I had remembered the food to be. The sesame chicken was mushy instead of crispy. The egg rolls were overcooked, with too much "roll" and not enough filling.
Love this place. Old school sit down chinese.
Very good food. The staff is very nice and they are all well dressed. Definitely not your run of the mill Chinese take out place. They even pack your food that you have left for you and have a nice selection of alcoholic drinks. Tea is complimentary and they will bring you more rice if needed. Crispy noodles with a sweet and a spicy sauce are provided before the main course.
We came to this place for lunch. we heard about this spot from many people. Well, we were not disappointed. The staff welcomed us with a smile and we felt good. The food was just great. We had a great time and we shall absolutely come back again. Recommended.
Atmosphere reminds me of an old school chinese restaurant, food is amazing. Hands down the best chinese cuisine I have had since my last visit to Chinatown. Keep up the great work.
Been going here for since they opened. Everyone there is like family. Food is fabulous
